The Incubating Project is an experimental platform for diversifying and activating new music, giving an opportunity for various artists to collaborate, develop their works, network, and experience artists and unique venue in Seoul.

Incubating 002
In November 2018, Arts Incubator launched its second Incubating Project with New York's contemporary music collective ensemble mise-en. We selected 7 talented composers from around the world and invited Korean composer. All artists participated in the ‘Incubating Program’ with ENSEMBLE MISE-EN for four days at the most unique art venue in Seoul Culture Tank.
2018년 11월, 아츠 인큐베이터의 두번째 인큐베이팅 프로젝트가 서울 문화비축기지에서 진행되었습니다. 전세계 공모를 통해 선정한 8명의 작곡가들은 총 4일간 앙상블 미장과의 심층 협업, 문화비축기지와의 지구 협력 네트워크 세미나, 네트워킹 파티 등 다양하게 준비된 인큐베이팅 프로그램에 참여하였습니다.

Incubating 001
In December 2017, Arts Incubator launched its first Incubating Project with New York's contemporary music collective ENSEMBLE MISE-EN. We selected 8 composers and sound artists from an open call and selected artists participated in the ‘Incubating 001’ with ENSEMBLE MISE-EN for four days in Seoul.

ATM 2020 - MEGAPHONE
일상적으로 울려퍼지는 사람들의 대화, 도시 속 거리의 복잡한 소음, 감미롭고 아름다운 음악. 살아가면서 우리는 언제나 소리를 듣습니다. 그렇지만 어떤 소리는 다른 소리들보다 조금 더 낮은 지대에 위치하며 스스로를 들리지 않는 곳으로, 혹은 다른 소리 속으로 흡수시킵니다. 주의 깊게 듣지 않으면 들리지 않는, 하지만 분명하게 존재하는 소리들. 다섯 명의 큐레이터가 그러한 소리를 발견하고자 구상한 《ATM 2020: MEGAPHONE》은 많은 사람들이 무심코 지나치는 그 소리들을 알아차리고 증폭시키는 아티스트의 작업을 크게 들려주는 ‘확성기’ 역할을 하고자 합니다. 때로는 저항으로서, 그리고 유동성으로서, 혹은 정체불명의 무언가로서, 존재하지만 들리지 않았던 소리들을 아트 인큐베이터가 준비한 네 개의 공연과 하나의 전시를 통해 만나보세요.
The ordinary conversation of everyday, the complex noise on the city street, the beautiful and mellow music. We always hear something in our lives. However, some sounds are located at the position lower than other sounds. They move themselves to where they cannot be listened to or dissolve themselves into the other sounds. If you are not careful, you can’t listen to those sounds. But they exist, for certain. 《ATM 2020: MEGAPHONE》, created by five curators who try to find this kind of sounds, will act as the ‘megaphone’ to expand the certain artists. These artists search for the sounds which many people just pass by, amplify them, and transform them into the clear thing so that we can listen to them. Please meet unlistenable, but existing sounds, as a form of resistance, liquidity, or ambiguous being, in four concerts and an exhibition presented by Arts Incubator.

모든 방향의 소리를 받아들일 수 있다는 특성을 지닌 무지향성(Omni) 마이크는 엠비언스나 공간음을 녹음하는데 사용됩니다. 2019년 11월 29일-12월 1일, ‘Omni’라는 주제로 펼쳐진 ATM은 무지향성 마이크처럼 여러 방향에서 들려오는 다양한 소리를 포용하려는 태도를 추구합니다. 특별히 한-덴 수교 60주년을 기념하여 덴마크 코펜하겐의 음악 페스티벌(KLANG)과 협력하여 진행되었습니다.

From Nov.29 to Dec.1, ATM 2019: Omni seeks to embrace sound from all direction, just like ‘Omni’ microphone. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Korea-Denmark diplomatic relations, and the ATM festival will be held in cooperation with the music festival KLANG in Denmark.

2018년 11월 23일 Arts Incubator는 한국문화예술위원회 한국창작아카데미와 협력하여 차세대 작곡가를 위한 ‘ATM - New Music Day’를 개최하였습니다. 공모를 통해 선발된 젊은 작곡가들에게 재독 작곡가 박영희의 마스터클래스, 뉴욕 현대음악 연주단체 앙상블 미장과의 리딩세션의 기회를 제공하였으며, 더불어 음악학자 이희경, 청년 작곡가들이 함께하는 작곡가 박영희와 청년 창작자들의 좌담까지 국내 차세대 작곡가들을 위한 다양한 프로그램이 진행되었습니다.

2019년 1월, Arts Incubator와 뉴욕 현대음악 연주단체 ENSEMBLE MISE-EN 협력의 음반 제작 프로젝트 ‘Korean Women Composers’는 한국 여성 작곡가 작품을 국제적으로 홍보하기 위한 프로젝트 입니다. 국내는 물론 해외에서 활동 중인 여성 작곡가들을 조명하여 그들의 삶과 음악을 조명하고자 합니다.
2019년 1월, Arts Incubator와 뉴욕 현대음악 연주단체 ENSEMBLE MISE-EN 협력의 음반 제작 프로젝트 ‘Korean Women Composers’는 한국 여성 작곡가 작품을 국제적으로 홍보하기 위한 프로젝트 입니다. 국내는 물론 해외에서 활동 중인 여성 작곡가들을 조명하여 그들의 삶과 음악을 조명하고자 합니다.
ATM Composers in New York
2019년 6월 27일, 지구 반대편 뉴욕에서는 Arts Incubator와 뉴욕 현대음악 연주단체 ENSEMBLE MISE-EN 협력의 또 다른 콜라보레이션 프로젝트가 진행되었습니다. 한국 작곡가 작품을 세계에 알리기 위해 시작된 이 프로젝트는 ATM 페스티벌에서 초연된 한국 작곡가들의 작품을 뉴욕 초연하는 지속 연주 프로젝트입니다.
On June 27, 2019, on the other side of the globe, another collaboration project was held in New York in cooperation with Arts Incubator and ENSEMBLE MISE-EN, the New York contemporary music ensemble. The project, which started to announce the Korean composer's work to the world, is a continuing performance project to have US premiere three Korean composers’ work in New York.
